The attention of the Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate (CPPM) has been drawn to a reckless, provocative, irresponsible, barbaric, gangster and criminal threat against the life of President Muhammadu Buhari by Mr. Ayodele Fayose, the governor of Ekiti State while addressing some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja earlier today 9th July, 2018.
In the statement as reported in the media, Governor Fayose threatened the life of Mr. President and his entourage who are scheduled to be at the campaign grand rally of his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state on Tuesday 10th July, 2018 ahead of the July 14th, 2018 Ekiti State gubernatorial election.
By threatening the life of President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has threatened the life of 180 million Nigerians, whose democratic mandate is vested in the office the President of the federal Republic of Nigeria.
Since the build up to the 2018 Ekiti State gubernatorial election, Governor Ayodele Fayose has been making malicious and damaging allegations without proof against relevant agencies of state with the intention to undermine the peaceful and orderly conduct of the election.
If Mr. Ayodele Fayose in his wildest dreams, imagine that he can intimidate and bully the Ekiti people from coming out enmasse to exercise their franchise on election day through this latest threat of violence against the office of the President of Nigeria, he has failed.
The utterances and conduct of Mr. Ayodele Fayose since assuming office as governor of Ekiti state in 2014 has cast a big doubt on his mental sanity and this latest threat is a further testimonial, pending psychiatric examination.
However, we are not oblivious of the fact that Mr. Fayose might still be suffering from the hangover of the gangsterism and brigandage of the Goodluck Jonathan Presidency exhibited during the 2014 Ekiti State gubernatorial election, in which even as a candidate for the election, he was the President and Commander in chief of the Armed Forces, giving directives for the violation of the constitution and subversion of democracy as exposed in the Ekitigate scandal tape.
Therefore, we want it placed on record that Mr. Ayodele Fayose should be held responsible for any breakdown of law and order, before, during and after the conduct of the 2018 Ekiti State gubernatorial election since he has not hidden his open desire and plot for anarchy.
The security agencies are hereby admonished to be on red alert to crush the violent threat of Mr. Fayose against the peace of Ekiti State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
With utmost sense of urgency, we are calling on the Ekiti State House of Assembly to immediately pass a resolution demanding psychiatric examination of Governor Ayodele Fayose and his continued stay in office.
