The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has appreciated members of the party across the country and in diaspora for their support that made possible the conduct of a peaceful and transparent Presidential primaries at the weekend in Port Hacourt, Rivers state.
Prince Secondus said that by that singular action, the party’s journey to regaining power and ejecting All Progressives Congress, APC, from office has begun well and only a matter of time.
The National Chairman said that all the doomsday predictions that the party was going to emerge from their National convention swimming in crisis have been proved wrong as the party is not only more peaceful but more united and determined to execute the sole most important project of chasing out APC from the nation’s political life.
Prince Secondus said in a statement from his media office signed by his media adviser Ike Abonyi that the pace setting convention was a clear demonstration that the rebranding and repositioning of the party with a view to regaining power was actually on course and in full gear.
“The support from members and non members to the reform agenda of the party that culminated in the successful primaries from ward to National levels shows clearly the determination of Nigerians to return PDP to power.
Prince Secondus noted that this would not have been possible without the support of critical stakeholders working on the same page to realize this common goal.
” Special recognition must be made of those whose yeoman roles made it possible, all those who participated either as a aspirants, or as facilitators and here special mention must be made of the Chairman of the National Convention Committee His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and members of his committee
The National Chairman also marked for special appreciation, the Rivers state Governor His Excellency Neysom Wike and the government and people of the state for their exceptional service and contributions to the party and the successful hosting of the convention.
He also noted with thanks, the wonderful roles of all the PDP Governors as well as other critical stakeholders and members at all levels as well as the media and the public for their positive interests in the party.
“By the Port Harcourt successful outing, the party’s journey to Aso Rock villa has begun in ernest and I urge all hands to be on deck until the country is rescued.
Finally, Prince Secondus appealed to members who contested for various positions and lost to emulate the Presidential aspirants and make the necessary sacrifices needed for the eventual success of the party noting that PDP umbrella is big enough for all in victory.
Rivers Guber Candidate, Arc Tonye Cole Picks Chief Giadom as Running Mate
The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, said the party is profoundly delighted to announce that the Governorship Candidate of the Party in Rivers State, Arc. Tonye Dele Cole has chosen Chief Victor Tombari Giadom as his running mate for the 2019 governorship election in Rivers State.
A statement signed by the State spokesman, Warisenibo Chris Finebone noted that, “Arc. Cole announced the choice of Chief Giadom while briefing the top hierarchy of the APC in a meeting in Port Harcourt.”
It reads: Chief Victor Giadom is the incumbent Deputy National Secretary of the APC and a member of the Party’s National Working Committee, NWC. He was a former Executive Chairman of Gokana Local Government and later served as Commissioner for Works in the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi administration in Rivers State from 2011 to 2015. He also served as the Director-General of the Greater Together Governorship Campaign Organisation of APC in 2015.
According to Arc. Tonye Cole, “The choice of Chief Victor Giadom as my Running Mate was arrived at after a careful and exhaustive consideration of an array of equally notable personalities in the party. He came out tops on all considerations especially his unalloyed and untainted loyalty, unrelenting hard work and invaluable experience as a former outstanding local government chairman, former Commissioner for Works, former Governorship Campaign DG and presently a member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party, APC.”
With the choice of Chief Giadom, the APC Governorship Candidate, Arc. Tonye Cole has commenced to assemble a crack dream team for the 2019 governorship election in Rivers State.
PDP Reacts to Buhari Travel Ban
The Peoples Democratic Party has condemned the travel ban placed on 50 high-profile Nigerians by President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as “the height of autocracy, despotism, fascism and a plot to railroad Nigeria into a Banana republic.”
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Saturday ordered full implementation of Executive Order 6 (EO6). A number of enforcement procedures were consequently put in place which include travel ban on 50 high-profile Nigerians and monitoring of the financial transactions of these persons of interest.
Speaking with our reporter shortly after the travel ban was imposed by the President, the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, called on all democrats across party lines to rise against the ban.
Ologbondoyan said PDP would formally respond to the issue.
