APC Survives…Babafemi Ojudu

Published

on

By Senator Babafemi Ojudu

When a couple of days ago I wrote that APC ,unlike PDP, will soon resolve her issues some didn’t believe.

It will implode, it will soon disintegrate so said the analysts so-called . They never wished our party well. This is not to say there are no genuine critics of our party.

I argued then that even if our problems are as high as Mount Everest we have wise leaders in President Mohammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and our National Leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as many of our governors too who are reasonable and patriotic. They are not all self centered. They are men ( hope we have women soon ) who subscribed to the ideas and ideals of our party and not only what they can get .

As you have all seen, all of that brouhaha of last week has subsided if not vanished. My friend and brother Giadom came like a comet and vanished. My Comrade brother Oshiomole won one and lose one and we are matching forward to the future.

Don’t get me wrong . I am not saying things are perfect now but think about it ,no organization, just as no human being, is perfect. Wherever two or three people are gathered in pursuit of interests there must be conflict. It is the ability by the custodian of the larger interest to resolve the conflicts that makes for the resilience of such a group.

Make no mistake about it there will still be conflicts in the future. It is the way we are able to resolve it that makes the difference between us and PDP.
When as soon as the emergency NEC was over three days ago I called and talked to the dramatis personae including Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and they all expressed their gladness with the way it went I knew we have disappointed our party’s enemies.

We are still very young a party. ANC is a more than a hundred old plus and yet members and blocks within the party still disagree. In the Republican Party today there are disagreements between President Donald Trump and some whose families are synonymous with the Party. APC was formed in 2015. As we go along we will continue to perfect our acts internal mechanisms.

We shall work assiduously to keep this party together and grow it because for many of us we can go to another . It is either the progressive movement or retirement from public affairs . As I said today on a radio program if I die and someone brings PDP flag close to my coffin, I will wake up , tear it, burn it and go back to sleep.

We therefore thank all our leaders as well as the entire members of our party for their love for the progressive cause. Let us stay resolute to our commitment to bring about meaningful change to Nigeria. Let us serve our people more. Let the people put in charge of our public till imbibe the character and integrity of our dear President . Let us think more of our people than our selves. Let us rededicate our lives to the service of our Nation.

Just as the task of rescuing our country is a work in progress so is the building of a virile and unassailable APC .

Now we know we will go to election in Edo and Ondo without any legal encumbrances. The party too and the gentleman governor from Yobe State handling her affairs for the next six months has promised to look into the grievances of members across the country. We also have the Chief Bisi Akande Panel. We shall all listen and cooperate with them as we pray for the committee to organize a successful convention in no distant future.

APC survives! Thank you President Buhari. Thank you all our leaders. God bless our teeming members and supporters. Let us continue to keep the faith.

Senator Elisha Abbo Dumps PDP For APC

Published

on

Senator Elisha Abbo has announced his defection from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Senator who is representing Adamawa North in the Senate announced his defection in a letter addressed to the House.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan read the letter during Wednesday’s plenary session.

In the letter, Senator Abbo explained that his decision to defect to the APC is because of the mismanagement of the PDP in Adamawa state by Governor Umaru Fintiri.

Senator Abbo has been in the news for assaulting a woman in an adult toy shop in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Maitama, earlier in September, awarded N50 million damages against Senator Abbo, to be paid as compensation to Osimibibra Warmate, a female attendant at a sex-toy shop, whom he assaulted.

Justice Samira Bature gave the order in her judgment on the fundamental rights enforcement suit instituted by Warmate against the senator.

Earlier on July 3, 2019, the lawmaker was caught on camera physically assaulting a woman in Abuja, two months after he allegedly committed the act.

2023 Zoning: Let us respect agreement…Fashola

Published

on

Ahead the 2023 general elections, the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, has strongly advised the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to respect and honour agreement reached at the formative stage of the party.
He also said that the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) lacks the strength of taking over from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2023.
Fashola who while chatting with newsmen covering the ruling party (APC Press Corps) in Abuja on Tuesday admitted there was an agreement on zoning which he said should be honoured.
When asked on the zoning arrangement, the former Lagos State governor said, “the truth is that what makes an agreement spectacular is the honour in which it is made not whether it is written. If it was written there would be no Court cases of breach of contract because it’s document that is written and signed that go to court. But the private agreement you make with your brother and sister should not be breached, it must be honoured.”
Though he argued that zoning may not feature in the party’s constitution but noted that party leaders at the formative stage entered into agreement which must be honoured.
According to the Minister, “All political parties are clubs where you write agreements just like a social club and we can decide that it is the youngest person who will be the Chairman of the Club or we can decide that it is the oldest person or the next female or the next male, that is the matter of agreement between people.”
On whether the ruling party can still retain its governing status come 2023, Fashola vehemently dismissed the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as no match to APC, arguing that they will have to think better to unseat the ruling party come 2023.
“Our opposition (PDP) has to think better than us in order to defeat us, right now they are not doing that. When it’s election time they should come and meet us.
“Some governors have joined us, from where we think we could not get voters before. To retain power in 2023, certainly if we keep our promises, people will vote for us. It is that simple, that is politics. If you do what you said you will do even if you don’t do 100 percent and they see that you are making progress, they will even want you to finish somewhat you started.”
He also called for support for the Governor Mai Mala Buni led Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Committee (CECPC) noting that the Committee was a product of necessity following the leadership crisis that engulfed the party.
“It was a crisis that led us to have a caretaker committee, we must respect the caretaker committee, let it do its job. Those of us who didn’t contest party positions, let’s focus on our jobs too and stop getting in each other’s way.
“Let’s be ready to support one another, every support that the caretaker committee requires, we will provide if it is within our means to do so. At the end of the day, we are governed by rules.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has used the occasion of his 60th birthday to forgive all those who might have
betrayed him in the course of his political journey,  especially after he left office in 2018.

Fayose, who urged all politicians in Ekiti State to forget politics of bitterness for the interest and progress of the state, added that at
60, his desire was to be closer to God and be a preacher of His words.

The former governor made this known yesterday while speaking on a radio programme to commemorate his birthday on Our People’s FM, 104.1,
Ado-Ekiti.

Fayose thanked God for what He has used him to achieve in the last sixty years, especially what he was able to do when he was the
governor of Ekiti State.

He charged all politicians to start embarking upon what will make people to remember them after leaving the position of authorities,
noting that whatever they do today will become history tomorrow.

The former governor mentioned few among his achievements as the governor of Ekiti and that include; Amphi theatre at Ewi’s Palace,
Ado-Ekiti, flyover bridge, Ado-Ikere road, High Court Complex in Ado, new and old governor’s office , Ministry of Finance Building and the
new obas’ market in Ado-Ekiti.

He said his memorable day was when he was illegally impeached from office as governor of Ekiti State.

“The day I was forced out of government was the day I will never forget , this incident gave me high blood pressure and I asked God for
three months to know what went wrong.

“Another memorable day was when I was sworn in again as governor of Ekiti State,” he said.

While answering question on the rationale behind the stomach infrastructure programme he initiated when he was in office, he said
Covid-19 palliative is stomach infrastructure.

Fayose, who defeated two incumbent governors, Otunba  Niyi Adebayo and Dr. Kayode Fayemi in 2003 and 2014 respectively, said
he still believe he can be Nigeria’s president and that how it will happen is for God to decide.
