The Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a motion calling for the enforcement of commercial colours on all commercial transport vehicles in the State to ensure easy identification and enhance security networks.

The passage of the resolution titled: “HR 046/2016- Enforcement of Ogun State Commercial Colours on all commercial transport vehicles in the State”, was sequel to the adoption of the motion moved by the sponsor, Hon. Aina Akinpelu, seconded by Hon. Jimi Otukoya and supported by the whole House through a voice vote.

Opening debate on the motion, the sponsor, Hon. Akinpelu said there was an urgent need for all commercial transporters in the State to adorn their vehicles with the registered State colours so as to distinguish the intra State vehicles from those running inter-State service.

Supporting the motion, Deputy Speaker Olakunle Oluomo, Honourables Jimi Otukoya, Rasak Atanda, Tunde Sanusi and Olusola Bankole were of the opinions that the resolution on the enforcement of commercial colours would assist in determining the volume of commercial vehicles plying roads in the State, adding that the painting of the vehicles would create more job opportunities for artisans and others in the transport business.

Also Speaking, Honourables Olayiwola Ojodu, Olusola Sonuga, Oludare Kadiri, Ganiyu Oyedeji and Adeleye Adebiyi said that it would increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) accruing to the State, as all commercial vehicles plying roads in the State could easily be determined, charging all relevant government agencies to ensure immediate enforcement of the commercial colours.
