A 23-year-old laborer, Mohammed Ibrahim, has been sentenced 12 for stealing a mobile phone worth N17, 000, by a Lugbe Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja.

The Judge, Mr. Garba Ogbede, said since the accused had pleaded guilty to the charge the court had no option but to sentence him accordingly, refusing to give the convict an option of fine, and also ordered that the recovered phone be returned to the owner.

Ogbede said the convict should be taken to Kuje Prisons where he was expected to serve the prison terms with hard labour and warned him to be of good behaviour, and desist from committing crimes after serving out his punishment.

Ibrahim, who resides in Area 1, Garki, Abuja, was charged under Section 288 of the Penal Code for stealing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Ukoha Ndidi, had informed the court that on Feb. 22, Idahuba Evan of Lugbe Zone 5, reported the case at Lugbe Police Station.

“The accused entered the complainant’s tailor’s shop at about 3.30 p.m. and made away with his Tuoda M7X phone.

“He was, however, caught with the phone.’’

Ndidi said the accused had criminal records, and had been sentenced twice by the court
