In a bid to ensure that more lives are saved during emergency situations, the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in collaboration with Mobile Rescue Nigeria Limited, a private rescue team has unveiled plans to further reduce emergency response time.

Making this known in Abuja last Friday, the Director General of FEMA Alhaji Abbas Idris, said that the response time, which presently stood at five minutes would be further reduced to enable the agency save more lives and reduce property damage.

The emergency response time which is five minutes will be reduced further when the partnership between FEMA and Mobile Rescue Nigeria Limited becomes operational,’’ he said.

He said that the company would introduce a Mobile Rescue Package which includes Mobile Application, One touch access for users, integration with emergency call function and 24- hour monitoring.

The benefit of the scheme will reduce manpower spread, response time, cost and also boost the confidence of the citizenry in the administration,’’ he said.

Idris also said that the application would help in disaster risk reduction with its early warning system feature which enables warning alerts to reach the public in “real time’’ and expressed optimism that the scheme would be immensely beneficial to the public through improved efficiency and cohesiveness of emergency and public safety services.
