President Buhari gets knocks for endorsing Pastor Ize-Iyamu despite N700 million fraud case involvement
President Muhammadu Buhari has been berated for endorsing Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who is facing corruption charges to the tune of N700 million.
Ize-Iyamu was arraigned before a Federal High Court in Benin by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly receiving about N700m during the build-up to the 2015 general elections.
The money was said to have emanated from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
However, Ize-Iyamu, who is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, was endorsed by the President on Friday.
Responding to the development, Sowore, who is a former Presidential candidate, said it was funny that Buhari could feign ignorance of Ize-Iyamu’s corruption case.
Sowore, who is the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, said this was the same way Buhari appointed Godswill Akpabio as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and supervisor of the Niger Delta Development Commission despite being under probe by the EFCC for allegedly diverting billions of naira as governor of Akwa Ibom State.
He tweeted, “The nature of dementia! Pastor Ize-Iyamu is undergoing trial for N700m scam, Buhari pretends not to remember, hands him a flag to become next Edo governor, much like Senator Godswill Akpabio was asked to handle NDDC.”

One of the resource persons, Mrs. Idowu Kehinde, Director, Management Services and Zonal Administration, implored the staffers to cultivate the right attitude to work, while upholding the principles and ethics of the civil service, as this would foster achievement of organizational goals set by the government.
She added that officers should be willing and ready to learn as well as be a team player at every point in time, saying this will enhance their productivity at the workplace, especially through working together as a team.
Also, Dr. Olalekan Sodeinde of the State Ministry of health, in his lecture said Covid-19 was very much within, noting that observing physical distance reduces the risk of contact with droplets from an infected person’s sneeze/cough.
Dr. Sodeinde admonished the staff and management of the Commission to always wear a face mask, wash their hands frequently with soap under running water, cough/sneeze into their bent elbow and maintain physical distance, saying that as far as there are no vaccines for the virus yet, the state government was taking laudable steps to stem the communal spread of the virus, by creating centers across the 20 local government areas of the state for free Covid-19 testing and home treatment packages for people with mild symptoms.
