Suswam pleads not guilty to 32-count charges

Suswam alongside his former Commissioner for Finance, Omodachi Okolobia, and former accountant at the Benue State Government House Makurdi were arraigned on 32-count charges, to which they pleaded not guilty.

Earlier, Justice Gabriel Kolawole dismissed the application by prosecution counsel, Aminu Alilu to transfer the criminal case to Federal High Court in Makurdi after the defence counsel, Tawo Eja Tawo (SAN) opposed it.

Suswam and the others are alleged to have conspired to divert about N10bn SURE-P funds in April, 2015.

The judge is to decide on the bail of the defendants.
