The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Campaign Council Chairman, Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the Edo governorship election will be won convincingly by Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The PDP National Campaign chairman who is also the Governor of Rivers State made the assertion at the Grand Finale of the Edo PDP Campaign held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
Governor Wike said the convincing evidence on ground has shown the general acceptance of the party by the electorate.

The Governor however urged Edo people not to take things for granted but turn out in large numbers to vote the candidate of PDP.
“By the grace of God, the election has been won by Governor Obaseki. That does not mean that you’ll go and sleep. Everybody that wants to fight godfatherism should come out to vote.
“Use Edo election to end godfatherism. Make sure you vote and be vigilant too.
“I agree with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the election will be free and fair. Even the Inspector General of Police has promised that nobody will rig the election. But do not leave the polling units after casting your votes.
“Repeat the Rivers State Model. Let every woman wear jean on election day, cast and defend your votes.
“Follow the votes to the Collation Centres . Do not go until INEC has announced Godwin Obaseki as the winner,” he said.

In a statement made available to media houses, Monday, Eze said a holistic appraisal of the electioneering processes and balloting which took place last Saturday, reveals that the exercise was not only relatively peaceful, depicting an appreciable degree of a global standard of election in a democratic society but most importantly demonstrates that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is well equipped to improve on the democratic credentials of our nation.
The party Chieftain commended the Transportation Minister, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi and other leaders of the party for the huge solidarity and support given the candidate of the party, Rotimi Akeredolu, which saw to his emergence in the fierce electoral battle of Saturday.
With this development, APC has proved once again that with unity future victories of the party in subsequent elections are assured.
Applauding officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for sticking to the ethics of fairness in the discharge of their electoral duties, Eze hailed security agencies for limiting their operations within the province of electoral guidelines, adding that their display of sound ethical norms and professional conduct contributed to the credibility of the poll.
Congratulating the Ondo State Governor and candidate of the APC, Rotimi Akeredolu SAN for this great victory, he pleaded with him for the interest of the party to set in motion a unification mechanism to unite all party Chieftains and Stakeholders for a stronger, virile, visionary and united APC in the State but most importantly provide public light to the areas that have no public light all these years at an age we are in and ensures that all his campaign pledges are implemented accordingly.
While calling on Jegede, Agboola and other opposition candidates and parties that participated in the contest, to throw their weights behind the winner for public interest, the party chief congratulated Gov. Akeredolu, the entire Ondo APC family and the good people of the state for the big win.
Eze reassures Jegede who happens to be his very close friend right from their days in Adamawa State to not only join APC but work very closely with the Governor for a better and greater Ondo State as the future of the State lays in the hands of patriotic and educated leaders like him.
From the results as declared by INEC the victorious APC Candidate defeated his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prof. Eyitayo Jegede, in 15 of the 18 Local Government Areas where the election took place. Rivers Politics: PDP about to experience an implosion – Eze
A palpable gloom of apprehension seem to have captured the entire circle of the People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State, following the departure of two federal Lawmakers whose thoughtful exit has suddenly provoked a turbulent and blustery political atmosphere capable of shattering the oldfangled umbrella and grossly wilting its shielding strength in Rivers State.
The Legislators’ bug off from the grossly shattered, largely perforated and torrentially leaking umbrella and consequent accession into the progressives family has the potential of tweaking the Rivers APC and injecting fresh blood into the system as part of rebuilding efforts for optimum performance.
Former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze revealed this to media houses in a statement made available Thursday, in the South/South region.
He noted that the impending perpetual implosion of the Rivers State Chapter of the PDP is not unconnected with the stone-blind and anti-people style of governance adopted by the PDP/Wike led government into the scope of its steering mannerisms in the discharge of its owed obligation to the Rivers public.
“Most of the groups that have expressed disenchantment with the non-existence of real governance in the state and willingness to pitch their tent in the All Progressives Congress blamed their grievance to the large scale corruption that has overwhelmed the system” Eze said.
Consequent upon the absence of a clear-cut framework with which government operates, the party chief averred those government officials and their cronies who crown themselves reformers even when they have only reformed their pockets at public expense.
Chief Eze said with the perpetual denial of pensioners their due and continued refusal of the state government to implement the Salary increment to Civil Servants as approved by the Federal Government coupled with insensitivity to crucial issues facing the State, the implosion and collapse of the PDP in Rivers State is very imminent given the fact that people can no longer be led through their noses in the 21st century.
Setting the stage for the actualisation of the immediate fractionalization of the PDP in Rivers State, some aggrieved disappointed PDP bigwigs have already gone to court to challenge the last Congress of the Party where a sizeable number of persons taking shield under the weak umbrella were denied participation in the process.
The party stalwart said, report already in the open reveals that Solomon Tamuno Solomon Esq. on behalf of the aggrieved members of the PDP has filed a law suit challenging the just concluded congresses in the State at the FHC Owerri, and have been granted leave to serve all the purported Executive Committee members of the party via substituted means.
Highlight of the impenitent implosion of the PDP resulted in two federal PDP Lawmakers from Rivers State joining the APC with their crowd of supporters.
Recall that Rep. Ephraim Nwuzi of Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency and Rep. Chisom Dike of Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo Federal Constituency as well as a former Rivers Commissioner under the Wike Government, John Bahzia, recently resigned their memberships of the PDP citing poor leadership and wanton corruption among officials of the state government which has crippled economic growth and bequeathed massive job losses and hunger on the people.
Eze envisaged that before the end of 2020, great sons of Rivers State will follow suit and collectively, the state will be delivered from the shackles of a system where meritocracy is sacrificed in the alter of mediocrity and from further downside in all areas of governance and proudly, Rivers will assume its envious place in the comity of states in the country.
Describing the trio of Nwuzi, Dike and Bahzia as brave, the party chief expressed confidence that their entrance into the APC will contribute meaningfully to the ongoing efforts at stabilizing the party adding that the current revolution in Rivers State is crucial to the economic development and general well-being of the state and her people.
He commended leaders of the APC who on daily basis welcome key PDP members at the grassroots across the 23 local government areas into the APC, stressing that their action is a good proof to all that they mean well for the party.
Similarly, Eze hailed other party stalwarts who recently embarked on visits to party faithful at the grassroots to ascertain how they do and strength their confidence in the APC and the Transportation Minister, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.
Given the current trend of mass movement of people into the APC, the party bigwig emphasized that Nigerians need not bore themselves with Gov. Wike/PDP media boisterousness, stressing that enslaved PDP members in their thousands are set to pitch their tent with the APC soonest.
Eze commended APC leadership in the State and tasked them to continue with the new strategic approach to membership recruitment into the party, stressing that the ultimate goal remains reclaiming the Brick House come 2023.
Edo Deputy Gov. Debunks Arrest News, Says Oshiomole, Ize-Iyamu Planning To Use Fed Might To Rig
Following the allegations that the Security agencies has arrested the Deputy Governor of Edo State over unknown illegal possession of arms.
Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor on media Mr Benjamin Atu, has debunked the report saying that Adams Oshiomhole has perfected his plan to use the federal might to intimidate the Governor and his Deputy through the DSS.
According to him, “the Deputy Governor has not been arrested but we are aware of an ongoing plan to arrest him over unfounded lies so that Oshiomhole and his cohorts will have the freedom to rig the Edo North Senatorial district election.”
President Muhammadu Buhari has kicked against rigging of the election in Edo state, promising to congratulate whoever emerges as the winner. But Adams Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu who felt betrayed by the President’s statement decided to use the back door to arrest the Deputy Governor in the name of illegal possession of arms.
“It is a lie from the pit of hell and a heap of rubbish to mention the name of the Deputy Governor in such a mundane practice of democracy”
Comrade Philip Shaibu has been in active politics since Nigeria return to Democracy in 1999 and has never been linked to issue of an arms deal. In less than 24 hours to the Edo State Governorship election, is it today that Oshiomhole now wants to organize an arrest?
I want to assure you that Comrade Philip Shaibu, can’t be arrested because the People of Edo State will resist it. Oshiomhole is planning to create unrest in the State on election day by his attempt to use the DSS to arrest the Deputy Governor.
“We are calling on President Buhari and the International community to immediately prevail and called Oshiomhole and his thugs to order to avert unrest that may follow their actions.
Shaibu has therefore warned against libellous publication against his personality and any newspaper or online medium who yield themselves to be used cheaply to publish such libellous story should also be ready to face the consequences of the actions legally.
