Edo: Tinubu Can’t Determine Edo People’s Choice – Oyegun

Published

on

.The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigie Oyegun has noted that the National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, can not determine the outcome of the governorship election in Edo State as an outsider.
The former Governor of Lagos State had earlier called on voters in the state to vote against the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Godwin Obaseki.
Tinubu in his statement noted that the Edo State Governor is not a democrat and did not partake in the struggle for Nigeria’s democracy, therefore he should be voted out in the Saturday governorship poll.
Oyegun while reacting to the statement called on the APC national leader to stop interfering in the political situation in the South-South state.
He also urged all political gladiators to ensure that the forthcoming governorship election is peaceful.
Oyegun also denied issuing a statement on the outcome of the gubernatorial election in Edo State, noting that his statements on the political situation in the state have been consistent.
He said: “I read with great consternation and disgust a statement purportedly issued by me on a so-called outcome of the gubernatorial election in Edo State.”
“First let me state emphatically that at no time did I issue any statement, verbally or written, on the fortunes of the APC, or any other party in the imminent election.”
“The said statement which is making rounds in social media could only have originated from sick minds and desperate persons of criminal orientation. My views and statements on the Edo State political situation have been consistent.”
“I strongly advised against the mistreatment of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki by the late unlamented National Working Committee, (NWC), of the APC and his subsequent forced exit from the APC. Governor Obaseki stood bravely for the dignity and pride of his people and in the process suffered unacceptable indignities.”
“In the matter of who governs Edo State, the people are sovereign and no individual or group, whatever their status, can decide on their behalf. I stand with the people of Edo State and urge them to come out massively to exercise their democratic right! They should vote for good governance, common decency, principled leadership, especially in the political arena and the protection of their vital democratic rights. They should by their votes, make clear that it is their right to choose their Governor and nobody else! There is no room for fence sitters.”
“This is a special situation and primitive loyalties should and must be set aside. Remember Mr President’s admonition in an equally challenging preelection situation in Imo State. “Vote your conscience”. There will be peace on Saturday. Come out and vote your conscience.”

Edo Deputy Gov. Debunks Arrest News, Says Oshiomole, Ize-Iyamu Planning To Use Fed Might To Rig

Published

Following the allegations that the Security agencies has arrested the Deputy Governor of Edo State over unknown illegal possession of arms.

Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor on media Mr Benjamin Atu, has debunked the report saying that Adams Oshiomhole has perfected his plan to use the federal might to intimidate the Governor and his Deputy through the DSS.

According to him, “the Deputy Governor has not been arrested but we are aware of an ongoing plan to arrest him over unfounded lies so that Oshiomhole and his cohorts will have the freedom to rig the Edo North Senatorial district election.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has kicked against rigging of the election in Edo state, promising to congratulate whoever emerges as the winner. But Adams Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu who felt betrayed by the President’s statement decided to use the back door to arrest the Deputy Governor in the name of illegal possession of arms.

“It is a lie from the pit of hell and a heap of rubbish to mention the name of the Deputy Governor in such a mundane practice of democracy”

Comrade Philip Shaibu has been in active politics since Nigeria return to Democracy in 1999 and has never been linked to issue of an arms deal. In less than 24 hours to the Edo State Governorship election, is it today that Oshiomhole now wants to organize an arrest?

I want to assure you that Comrade Philip Shaibu, can’t be arrested because the People of Edo State will resist it. Oshiomhole is planning to create unrest in the State on election day by his attempt to use the DSS to arrest the Deputy Governor.

“We are calling on President Buhari and the International community to immediately prevail and called Oshiomhole and his thugs to order to avert unrest that may follow their actions.

Shaibu has therefore warned against libellous publication against his personality and any newspaper or online medium who yield themselves to be used cheaply to publish such libellous story should also be ready to face the consequences of the actions legally.

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State is never in a hurry. He is a leader of few words who allowed his excellent works to speak for him.

The People’s Governor is a very interesting leader. He loves and lives his work. If you ask me in a typical day of 24 hours what the People’s Governor does for 18 hours, I can tell you: his work. He loves his work.

The love he had for his work has translated into good governace for the benefits of Edo people.

Evidently, if the People’s Governor Godwin Obaseki was self centered he could have listened to Adams Oshomhole and share Edo State resources with few politicians.

Instead he decided to go the masses way, that the tax payers money will be spent to develop Edo State for the benefits of the people. He’s fighting for the people-Edo people.

Edo people, let’s give our Performing Governor Godwin Obaseki our support come September 19.Vote PDP and defend your vote.

“Use Edo election to end godfatherism. Make sure you vote and be vigilant too.

“I agree with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the election will be free and fair. Even the Inspector General of Police has promised that nobody will rig the election. But do not leave the polling units after casting your votes.

“Repeat the Rivers State Model. Let every woman wear jean on election day, cast and defend your votes.
