ENGR MOJEED ALABI BALOGUN FLAG-OFF FOOD PALLIATIVES PROGRAMME

Ikeja local government under the Engr Mojeed Alabi Balogun led administration flag-off her food palliative programme through Ikeja Food Bank facility. This is coming after overwhelming economic effects of fuel subsidy removal by the federal government of Nigeria.
The local government council distributed free food items to vulnerable persons and groups within Ikeja community. These are some of the efforts to cushion effects of fuel subsidy removal at the local level.
Addressing newsmen during the flag-off programme, the council Chairman reiterate the need to support FG initiatives at the local in reducing economic struggles of masses due to fuel subsidy removal. “At the local level, we are giving out free food items to aged men and women, persons living with disability, unemployed youths, and other vulnerable populations”. Engr. Mojeed Alabi Balogun said.
“This is purely efforts of the local council in support of the FG by touching our people at the grassroots. We will continue to ensure we mitigate the effects of fuel subsidy removal in our community” - the council Chairman asserted.
The palliatives measures will further extend to non-vulnerable individuals within the community who has the chances of purchasing pack of food items at a subsidized amount of over 60%. This will commence after giving out of free food items to vulnerable groups.
The food palliative programme will run in faces as 5000 vulnerable persons are expected to be reached within the next few months with which the Food Bank will operate.
